Spanish Tutors
Spanish TutorsIf you are looking for a fun way to learn Spanish, then look no further than an adult Spanish tutor. Even the most well-trained English speaker will fail if they do not have the proper vocabulary. This is where a tutor comes in handy. How to Stop Colleagues From Taking Credit for Your Great Ideas - Introvert Whisperer
Introvert Whisperer / How to Stop Colleagues From Taking Credit for Your Great Ideas - Introvert Whisperer How to Stop Colleagues From Taking Credit for Your Great Ideas Self-promotion is a vital activity for everyone, and sometimes itâs harder for Introverts. But just because it can be a challenge, that doesnât mean it shouldnât be done. No one but you will promote your cause. (Click here to tweet this thought.) There are many things you can do that constitute self-promotion, and one of those is promoting your great ideas. Creative idea generation is as important as your ability to get results and take responsibility for things. The problem you can face is what to do when you discover someone has ripped off your great idea. Itâs more than just irritating; it wonât enhance your career if you arenât acknowledged for an idea whose ownership is given to someone else. Especially if that idea is a seriously good one. Here are some tips for you to consider to help prevent or to deal with this issue: 1. Be Realistic There is some good news, and that is that someone thinks your idea has merit, or they wouldnt have chosen to share it as their own. Being mimicked is a high form of flattery. That said, the downside to this situation is that you dont get credited for the good idea. Your good ideas are part of your self-promotion its how people come to view your potential. Let me just say this to set your expectations you can never completely protect your ideas. But you can do some things to help reduce the likelihood of other people taking credit. 2. Spread the Word When you toss out an idea, toss it out to more than one person. It doesnt have to be at the same time, but the more people hear your idea, the more people will know its yours. That way if someone does try to represent the idea as yours, others will know it came from you. 3. Document It Early When appropriate, document your idea via email. Again, its hard to misrepresent something thatâs in black and white and sent to others. 4. Reclaim It This may take some effort, but you can inject a quick ownership soundbite when someone has talked up your idea as their own. You could say something like, I guess you really did like my idea. We should talk about it some more. Its important for you to realize that when someone does this, it usually isnt done with foul intent. We all have tons of information coming at us all the time and dont always remember its origins. I have a couple people very close to me that do this all the time. 5. Know When to Fight (and When Not to) If you do know that someone has done this not only repeatedly, but to undermine you, you need to stop sharing with them if you can. Understand your boss may do this to you (as well as others in your group) and that situation is different. Sometimes, management does represent ideas, work and results as theirs to simplify communication. In some ways, they have to represent everything going on in their group, and it may not be appropriate to detail out every single persons contribution. The main thing is that the boss does recognize your ideas and contributions. You may need to ultimately confront your offender or discuss this issue with your boss for their guidance. Only take these steps if the tips outlined above have failed to stop a ârepeat offender.â Have you ever suffered idea theft? How did you handle the situation? Share your stories in the comments! May 5 SAT cancellation at Paly
May 5 SAT cancellation at Paly Many AJ Tutoring students were recently affected by the cancellation of the May 5, 2012 SAT at Paly. So far, what we know is that someone pulled a fire alarm at Paly around 8:30 am, forcing the evacuation of students who were just sitting down to start the SAT. Students were evacuated to the athletic fields, and the alarm stopped sounding by 8:55. Students were not allowed back into testing rooms until 9:30, after which they were told that the SAT would be cancelled. Read more about the cancellation at Palo Alto Online and Menlo-Athertons newspaper.Obviously this is not an ideal outcome for all the Palo Alto students and those from surrounding areas who worked so hard to prepare for the test on May 5. Its a real letdown, especially at the end of the school year when students are so busy with finals and AP exams. However, we hope that the College Board will make things right for the affected students. They havent yet announced official plans to reschedule the test, but parents who have called the College Board say that there will be a retake offered before the next SAT on June 2, and students will be given the option of taking the test on the retake date or taking it at a later date.Students and parents of affected students: make sure your email is registered with the College Board to get the latest information on the May 5 SAT cancellation! If the test is rescheduled, it may be announced at the College Boards website. Finally, I know youre busy, but try to make time to do a little more SAT review before you have to retake the SAT. Even if its just doing the College Boards SAT Question of the Day, make sure you keep your brain engaged with SAT questions. Good luck, and AJ Tutoring will keep you posted with more information as we hear about it!

Summer Learning Activities
Summer Learning Activities Its summer break and children around the country are celebrating. While your child certainly deserves a break from the daily grind of homework and studying, its important to keep that brain active to avoid regression, the loss of academic skills that is so common over long breaks from school. What can you do to keep your child learning over summer break? Here are six ideas from Huntington Learning Center: Read daily. A regular reading habit is quite possibly the best and easiest way for children to retain their reading skills over summer and avoid the dreaded summer slide. Make reading a part of your nightly summer routine. Check out Huntingtons Reading Adventure program and any summer reading programs at your local library, and visit the library often. And consider setting goals and rewards for your child for summer (e.g. dinner at a favorite restaurant for every book finished). Start a journal. You might not be able to convince your child to practice essay writing over summer, but a journal is a fun way for your child to keep track of the things he or she does, trips, and more. Browse the bookstore for themed journals with daily prompts if you think your child might benefit from a little nudge. Some of those memories and moments might prove useful later on when your child is seeking inspiration for college entrance essays. Play learning games. No matter how old your child is, there are all kinds of games out there that are fun to play and teach valuable skills and knowledge at the same time. Research online for websites with popular games but dont forget classics like chess, checkers, all kinds of card games, Apples to Apples, Scrabble, Risk, and other board games. Get out the puzzles. Puzzles are a fantastic way to pass those hot summer days. Even if your child isnt into the traditional jigsaw puzzle, there are lots of variations. Look for metal and wood disentanglement puzzles, tangrams, box puzzles, Tetris puzzles, speed cubes and interlocking ring puzzles. Embrace summer science. There are many ways for your child to use the outdoors to learn about the weather, how things grow, living organisms and more. Start a garden and put your child in charge of researching and planting fruits, vegetables and flowers that grow well in your climate. Have your child chart the weather and track how it changes over summer. Encourage your child to watch for birds and animals in the yard and pay attention to their behaviors. Science and summer go hand in hand! Save and invest. If your child is planning to earn money this summer, why not take him or her to the bank to open an account and learn about the different savings options available? Search for an online class that will teach your child the basics of saving and earning interest. Check out the tools and information at Northwestern Mutuals The Mint. The great thing about summer is it offers an opportunity to explore curiosities and learn for learnings sake. Its okay if you cant get your child to crack a math bookthere are lots of ways for children to deter learning loss and enjoy themselves in the process. Need more ideas? New Horizons -First NASA`s Spacecraft to Fly by Pluto!
New Horizons -First NASA`s Spacecraft to Fly by Pluto! On July 14, 2015 NASAs spacecraft New Horizons became the first probe to ever visit Pluto. It successfully flew past the icy planet at 7:49 am EDT Tuesday. Since its launch in 2006 New Horizons traveled 3 billion-mile. This long-term voyage took nine and a half years. On its brief flyby, New Horizons made detailed measurements and observations of Pluto, and its moons: Charon (the largest moon), Styx, Nix, Kerberos, and Hydra. And for the first time in human history, its going to let us set eyes upon a mysterious new world. Everyone has been waiting for this historic moment. And finally it has happened! The splendid, high-resolution photos of Pluto will reveal many unknown detail of craters, icy plains and possible mountain ranges on its surface. A couple of words about Pluto. It was discovered in 1930 by American astronomer Clyde Tombaugh, and was considered the 9 planet from the Sun. Pluto is named after the god of the underworld. After 1992, the status of Pluto as a planet fell into question following the discovery of several objects of similar size in the Kuiper belt. In 2006, Pluto was reclassified as a member of the new dwarf planet category. Some astronomers believe Pluto should still be considered a planet. Want to know more about New Horizons or Pluto? How to Save Money on Utility Bills
How to Save Money on Utility Bills creditreport.com Not only is being conservative with your energy use good for your wallet, itâs good for the environment too. Thinking about your effect on the environment might only be a tiny blip on your mental radar, but itâs definitely worth considering. By consuming less power, less toxic fumes will be released into the air by power plants, which will help to conserve our planetâs natural resources and protect ecosystems from certain destruction. Read on to learn ways to be conservative and efficient, and youll be able to save more than one type of green! Be In The Know Call up your utility provider and ask them for a free appraisal. An employee will come out to your house and apartment and evaluate the location for what is using the most power. After the appraisal, the worker will be able to inform you of what is taking up the bulk of your utility bill. Once youâre in the know, you can take further steps to reduce your usage, thus cutting down on your utility bill. Depending on where you live, you might be able to compare quotes from different companies to see which utility plant has the best option for you. Unfortunately, if you live in a large city, which most college students do, youâre most likely limited to the official power plant of that city. Be Conservative Another good tip is to be conservative with your resource utilization. Take what your parents said into great account: Donât leave the water running, turn the lights off after you leave a room, etc. A good rule of thumb is to make sure everything that isnât in use gets turned off. Before you leave the house, make sure everything is shut down and unplugged. Make sure that none of the faucets in the house are dripping water. Turn off the air conditioning unit before you leave, but only if nobody else is home. Unplug your cell phone charger whenever itâs not in use. Remember that while objects are plugged into the wall, theyâre sucking up energy. Decide what should remain unplugged and what shouldnât according to that logic. twitter.com When doing laundry, make sure youâre not using more water than you have to by paying close attention to the diagram underneath the lid. Most washing machines will have an illustration indicating what washing settings are most appropriate for specific load sizes. Make sure youâre following those instructions to prevent using more resources than you really have to. Instead of taking baths, take quick showers. Baths tend to use up more hot water, thus adding more money to your bill. Be sure to educate your roommates on your new conservation plan as well. You wonât want to be the only one following your conservation plan when everyone else is still stuck in their old habits. Be Efficient Even though it might seem like your quality of living has been reduced by changing your power and water usage so much (No more bubble baths? Câmon!), there are ways to supplement your reduced energy usage. The key is finding energy efficient appliances and shopping green to save your green. Use energy efficient lightbulbs or even candles if youâre dedicated. Purchase power saving televisions and entertainment products that utilize LCD screens rather than plasma screens. A good purveyor of energy saving goods to check out is EnergyStar appliances. EnergyStar sells green everything: washers, dryers, refrigerators, televisions, computers, central air conditioning and more. EnergyStar has saved $362 billion on utility bills since 1992, so check out their website and see what they can save for you. By following these tips with discipline and dedication, youâll find yourself with a less heinous bill every month and a much happier and healthier planet to go along with it.

A Brief Overview of Three Types of Chemistry
A Brief Overview of Three Types of ChemistryThere are three main types of chemistry that can be studied at a college or high school. In the US, there are two types of chemistry courses, Introductory Chemistry and Advanced Chemistry. The first type of chemistry course is an introduction to the subject which covers fundamental concepts and gives the student an overview of chemistry. The second type of chemistry course is the intermediate course in the Intermediate program. In this course, students will learn to study chemistry and create chemical reactions. Students taking this course will study the chemical structure and properties and chemical equilibrium. It also includes instruction on basic lab work, topics of typical laboratory experiments, and laboratory design. The third type of chemistry course is called experimental chemistry. It can be taken at th e high school level or at the college level. Students who will pursue this course will learn about the use of the laboratory in chemistry and will be involved in the performance of experiments. Students may be required to conduct several experiments under the guidance of a professional scientist. In order to obtain a grade for this course, the student must perform a certain number of experiments and analyze the results. Before going to college or high school, students should take laboratory classes. These classes provide students with the chance to practice all the skills that they have learned while studying chemistry. Students should begin taking laboratory classes at the age of thirteen. While in high school, the student can choose to take classes in mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, or other subjects that interest them.Students that are interested in taking Advanced Chemistry can decide which type of chemistry they wish to pursue by examining the requirements in their sta te. There are some requirements for chemistry at the college level that students must meet before they can apply to college. Therequirements for chemistry at the college level include high school mathematics, physics, biology, chemistry, and English as a second language.
